The Buick Enclave Review

The Buick Enclave is a large three-row SUV that offers a quiet interior and an excellent list of comfort and convenience features. It shares its platform with the Chevrolet Traverse, which is also available in this market. However, the Buick has a higher price than the Chevy Traverse, making it a less-than-inexpensive choice for those who prefer a larger SUV. Among its other key points are the availability of a nine-speed automatic transmission and the option of all-wheel drive.

Safety features include the latest in driver assistance technology. This includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and front pedestrian braking. In addition to these, a lane-centering feature automatically keeps the Enclave centered in its lane. Additionally, the vehicle has a forward-collision warning with low-speed automatic emergency braking.

In terms of convenience, the Enclave's cabin is among the most comfortable in its class. For example, all seats are equipped with two USB ports. There is an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as a wireless charging pad. Moreover, the top-line Avenir trim offers a power rear sunshade and rear power windows. Those looking to get a bit more luxury will want to consider the Buick Enclave's top-of-the-line Premium trim, which comes with a redesigned center console and a 8.0-inch infotainment screen.

Despite the Enclave's many comfort and convenience features, its interior is not as luxurious as some of its European rivals. While the materials used in the cabin are sturdy and well-built, they also feel a little flimsy. Furthermore, some of the door trim is made of faux wood, which makes it seem cheap and creaks when you close them. Also, the front seats in the second row do not offer the level of comfort and versatility that you'd find in a true luxury brand.

Some of the features that make the Buick Enclave stand out include the optional wireless phone charger, which has expanded to accommodate more phones. Likewise, the optional head-up display projects pertinent information onto the windshield. Moreover, the new 8.0-inch touchscreen comes with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Moreover, the Avenir Technology Package adds steering calibration and an adaptive suspension.

Another convenience feature is a hands-free liftgate. Other features include heated power side mirrors with a driver-side auto-dimming mirror, a rear wiper/washer, and an acoustic laminated windshield. Finally, the Buick Enclave's 10-speed automatic transmission gives it crisp responses.

GM is loyal to the Enclave. Despite the relatively high price, this mid-sized SUV is very reliable. With a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this SUV has a good crash test record. Plus, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Buick an Acceptable rating in the ease of use test for its LATCH child restraint system. Nevertheless, the Buick is not an ideal choice for families because of the lack of rear-seat legroom.

The Buick Enclave is available in three trim levels: Sport Touring, Premium, and Avenir. Each offers a unique list of equipment and convenience features. On the lower end of the spectrum, the Sport Touring package has only a small update. It replaces the polished 20-inch wheels with gloss-black painted wheels.
